My dad told me this story about my great grandfather, Ron Powell.  From this story, I learned about my family and where I come from.

Travelling

My great grandfather was working and living on a ship in England. He was the one who introduced pearls to Manihiki and trochus to Aitutaki.  One day, he heard about this beautiful woman in the Cook Islands, and travelled there to meet her. A few weeks later, he got to the Cook Islands, met her, and they got married.  They had six children. He worked as a fisheries officer.  My great grandfather was well known in his days.
